An Unforgettable Wedding Story in Charlotte

Steeped in tradition & sprinkled with new memories

The couple first met on a rainy night while hanging out with friends at a Charlotte bar. (Mutual friends had already told them about one another.) As they stood outside exchanging numbers, the rain turned to snow. Twelve years later, they decided to get married in the city where they met, have countless memories, the place they call home and still their favorite place to be, Charlotte. They knew that by having their wedding at Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel overlooking Romare Bearden Park, their friends and family would understand them as a couple. They envisioned a celebration that fit their unique style, and from the moment they met with Brianna Dorr, they knew they’d found the perfect fit.

Memorable Details

Their wedding day began by putting final touches on place settings and making final decisions about flower arrangements. The couple then sat in their hotel room writing—and re-writing—vows, to make sure they were just right. After lunch with their families, the pair changed into the first of two outfits: midnight blue tuxedos. They then re-joined immediate family and friends, who had all “graciously agreed” to be part of their big day.

"We truly felt like the stars of the evening. Everything was gorgeous down to the last detail—and executed flawlessly."

The newlyweds first danced to Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby,” and Angeline’s culinary team helped create the “perfect spring-appropriate menu” that reflected their ethnic backgrounds. They enjoyed a Vietnamese-inspired noodle bowl, delicious watermelon salad and perfectly grilled salmon. For the traditional part of the evening, the duo changed into their ceremonial Vietnamese attire (Ao Dai) as they greeted each table—an especially meaningful part of the celebration.
